Our Mihimihis

We have been learning to introduce ourselves in Te Reo Maori. We wrote our own Mihimihis and then used the iPads to film ourselves speaking in Maori, then added English subtitles. Next, we used the experts in our classroom who are fluent in a second language to help us to add subtitles in either Korean, Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish or Japanese. We had a wonderful time and loved learning to write in another language. We were very proud to have so many talented translators in our room!

Finally, we took a class photo and tagged our Mihimihi onto the picture of ourselves. Visit the link to see what we have been doing :D

Wow everyone spoke so fluently and confidently! Some of you definitely needed to give more eye contact through. It somehow makes it more personal. Those of you that ended with a smile, made me smile too. :-)

I really enjoyed listening to some of your mihimihi, some excellent Maori pronunciation going on there. I also thought the subtitled videos and interactive image tagging were very clever, well done.

  4. It was great to see your Mihimihi's Room 5. Michael you did really well, maybe next time you could speak a bit slower so it didn't sound so rushed, the subtitles were also very quick so hard to read.

  5. Thank you for all the lovely comments. TD - we were very impressed with the Maori in this comment and the poem you wrote in the last comment! Could you reveal your secret identity? We are all so curious about who you are!!! We all like reading your comments - it makes us smile to know our work is being enjoyed :).

We would love to keep getting comments and we find the constructive feedback very useful.

    Thanks for your time,
